Scotch Brite Hand Pads

Triple- S carries and offers 3 different types of 3M Scotch Brite hand pads with varying levels of intensity/strength.  Scotch Brite pads conform to uneven surfaces and they typically last longer than steel wool.  They are ideal for cleaning pieces and readying them for patina application.  When used in conjunction with Triple- S’ Cleaner 104 or even just a powdered detergent like Ajax or Comet, they will provide the necessary abrasiveness needed to clean & ready parts for patina.  Additionally, if being used with patina application, hand pads are the recommended method of application versus steel wool as the steel in the steel wool will react with the patina and is NOT recommended.

The White pad is meant for Light Duty work and can work on anti-scratch coatings and provide gentle polishing of stainless steel, steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze or glass.  The Maroon pad is meant for heavier duty situations, general purpose work, removing paint, and it can be used for final highlighting/finishing or cleaning of stainless steel, steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze or glass.  Lastly, we carry the Gray pad which is the coarsest of the three and can be used to blend scratches, smooth out blemishes, highlighting and also, heavy duty cleaning of all metals. All these pads can be used in the cleaning process, the application process as well as the finishing process.
